Just asking for some basics on Infopath programming

Hi there ! well, I'm an old programmer of Excel Macros, and recently I found myself involved in a problem with Infopath.

I have a lot of records in an excel file and want to convert each row in an infopath form (I already have the template created, I just need to populate the field with excel records). For sure, is there a way to automate this, but I never did something like this.

I just want to know if this can be done, maybe not from excel, but from infopath coding. Or if someone can give me a hint on this to start working.

    Thanks you in advance.

    Daniel.

Look no further than the Excel to InfoPath tool.  It was designed to do precisely what you're looking to do.

Yes, for sure it works... but I cannot afford it. Too expensive.

So , I changed the way to look at the problem. Now I'm trying this from Infopath instead of excel.

I have my form template, and the info to fill it is out there (I can modify it to be an access database, an excel spreadsheet or a sharepoint list). Can someone give a hit on how can I fill this form with the information out there ? I have 300 records that needs to be converted in 300 forms.

     Please, any idea ?

Basically, you need to create a single XML file for each row, with the data from the correct column populating the correct node in the XML. If you save your form as source files, template.xml will show you what the XML your form generates looks like. You'll need to add the InfoPath processing instructions to each XML file as well (you can find those in template.xml too!)

I've not done much with VBA - You may want to check out the Mr. Excel message board - since that is something you are familiar with, it may the simplest route for you. Your code could just loop through the rows of your spreadsheet, loading the template.xml and setting the nodes to the values for your columns, then save the resulting XML file.
