    Master/Detail control

    Hello

I'm new to infopath and have been trying to figure out the master detail control. The thing is that when I add my fields to the form and select master/detail for them, the master fields are represented as a repeating table. What I'd like is to have the master fields represented as a repeating section with controls and the detail fields represented as a repeating table. This is possible in Access forms but doesn't appear to be possible with infopath.

Could someone please confirm this and let me know is there a better way to represent master/detail relationships on infopath forms.

    Regards...

    John

How about a repeating table with only one column? You could add as many different data fields into this one column and it would behave very similiar to a repeating section.

Thanks...that might work...I'll give it a try a little later today...

I have been playing with the master detail relation in infopath and have another problem. I create a form with a database conection involving two tables with a master/detail relationship between them. What I'd like to do is query the database based upon the master table and return the detail table entries. This works fine when I add the master fields to the query section and the detail fields to the data section.

However, when I try to add a new record to the detail section, I get the following error:

'[0x80004005][Microsoft Cursor Engine] Empty row cannot be inserted. Row must have at least one column value set'

I was wondering if anyone can explain this to me or give me some clues as to what is going on???

I'd appreciate some help as I'm new to infopath and am struggling to work with master/detail relationships.

    Cheers...
