    Possibly too many fields

I created a form that has the following:
    -177 static fields
    -Repeating group with 19 fields
    -Repeating group with 7 fields
-Repeating choice group with either 28 or 29 fields

I'm reaching a point that when I try to add another group of fields infopath crashes, and won't let me add any more of that repeating group without crashing.

What can I do? I could move 148 static fields to a new form, but that would create extra processes for my users. Is there a limit on the number of fields in InfoPath?

Do you have all of your fields in a single view?  If so, splitting them into separate views could fix the issue.

I have 23 fields shared across all views, 1 view with 19 repeating, 1 view with 21 repeating plus 7 or 8 choice repeating within it, 1 view with 148 static fields, 1 view with 7 repeating, and 5 static in the background.

Does InfoPath crash if you add new fields to the data source taskpane, or when you add controls into one of your views?  If it's the latter, does this happen only for certain views, or for all of them?

It crashes while the users are adding repeating group nodes in their forms, not when I'm in Design mode.

Is it on the view with 21 repeating plus 7 or 8 choice repeating sections?  That does sound like a bit much.  is there any way you could try splitting that out into a few separate views?

Correct that is the view it happens with I can only have 15 nodes of that and it crashes when I add the 16th. I also happens with the view with 19 repeating fields, but I can have more before it crashes. Each of these views I'm using the Master and detail functionality, would that affect anything? I should also state I'm using InfoPath 2007 and WSS.

    Re: Possibly too many fields

So I tried some things. I removed the 148 field view completely, no improvement. I removed the repeating choice group in the one view, no improvement. So in the view with the repeating group with 19 fields, I can only add 35 nodes before it crashes. In the view with a repeating group of 21 fields, I can only add 15 nodes before it crashes. I don't get it.

Smalll breakthrough, if I use the insert item option rather than the form toolbar buttons it doesn't crash.
