Hi There,
I am using a well publicised set of rules to auto increment form numbers and allow users to reopen and save an already filled out form to the same name and location. I'm using 2 hidden fields: reportCount, requestNumber and a dataConnection that get The ID field from the SPList the form is hosted on:
Rule 1: Always Applies
set reportCOunt to function count(@ID)
Rule 2: If reportCount =0
Set requestNumber = 1
Rule 3: if requestNumber is Blank
Set requestNumber = max(@ID) +1
Then of course I'm setting the submit options to concat some random letters and requestNumber to form the name and allowing the form to be overwritten to obtian the write back functionality.
This up until now has worked well, however, I have started noticing some concurrency issues when a number of users fill out the form at the same time which makes perfect sense logically but I would expect SharePoint to be able to cope with it.
If 2 or more people open a form, the last person to submit will overwrite the first persons form. This makes sense as if all the forms are open at the same time they would recieve the same request number if there were no mechanisms in place to regonise that more than one form is open. Which I though was the case. If anyone can enlighten me on this point I would be most grateful.
Originally I had these rules runnig when the form was opened, however, after discovering the issue I have managed to get them to run on submission and although there is some imiprovement with the issue it still remains.
Is this expected behaviour or is there something wrong with SharePoint?
