Form Template saving huge number of versions

I've been testing out a new form template in our SharePoint test environment, which was required that I upload a new version multiple times a day.  I've noticed the available space on the system has decreased dramatically.  It seems that the form template (stored at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\XXXXXXXX) has a huge amount of sub-directories of different versions of the form.

Checking out the 'Date Created' attribute, there doesn't seem to be a a pattern as to when these were made.  It seems that there are many more versions saved than I've uploaded.  Does SharePoint store a separate version for each instance of the form created?  Are there settings for this anywhere?

    Thanks,

    Eric

Check to see if there is a SharePoint workflow defined on the library. Maybe it's creating them.
