Hi Guys, I'm sure this is probably fairly simple, but as a new user of infopath and sharepoint, I am not sure where to go to work this one out.. I am creating an employee probation form which all employees in the organisation will need to access at some stage. We use sharepoint, and I've been able to use sharepoint to auto populate the 'current user' name, however as a manager fills in teh form, Id like the manager to lookup the employee in question's name in the surname/first name fields.. Can someone tell me how to lookup this information via a sharepoint web service and how to have this loaded in so the manager can select the employee (maybe from a dropdown list).. Or alternatively, by putting the employees user ID (which is used as single sign on for sharepoint) the employees name is populated. I would appreciate any help you can give!! Ta! :) P.S. This is my first form - so yes I realise it's probably a bit challenging.. But I am keeping notes on everything I've done as this will be the first of VERY many over the coming months! Cheers Jami

This blog post has some basics on using the UserProfileService. Instead of having the query run on load when you create the data connection, you could display the query field from the data source, and the manager could enter the employee's account ID - you'd need to add a rule to run the query at that point, then you'd be able to use rules to auto populate other fields in your form....

That's exactly what I would like to do, however I don't know what I need to do to create the query and have it run. The furtherest I've gotten is having a dropdown that auto displays all my sharepoint profiel information (one item on each line).. Can you advise how to create the query - what info in what fields?
