InfoPath Dev

I have a InfoPath 2010 Form that resides inside of SharePoint 2010 as a web-part. So the form does a simple query against a SharePoint List and it works great outside of SharePoint, BUT inside SharePoint the form loads all the contents of the list (3000 items) onto the page and takes 2 minutes for it to render...

I already have the data connection set to not query until requested BUT doesn't seem to work inside of SharePoint.
1) Outside of SharePoint nothing happens until I say Query
2) Inside of SharePoint the form starts pre-loading everything into the web-part before a query can be initiated

any ideas?

So, this is a an XMLFormView web part? or something else? How does the form behave in the browser? Same as in the web part? or as it behaves in InfoPath Filler?
