    adding a people picker field

I have a form that you provide help on previously. Now I'm trying to add a people picker control, but I'm not too sure how to do the mapping for the control. Are there any specific steps I need to follow?

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

Are you talking about the Contact selector? If so, there are a few tutorials out on the web explaining how to use it in your forms.

If I've misunderstood the question and this refers to one of Qdabra's products, please let me know.

    Thanks.

     Hi Ernesto,

No problems with adding the contact selector to the form. I am using qRules to submit my form (multiple data sources to one list). I have created the mapping file, but when I submit the form, the value from the contact selector is not populating the list.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jason,

One thing you could check is whether qRules is reporting an issue in the Error/Success/Result nodes when the command is executed. Can you temporarily display those on your canvas?

If possible, you could also send us your form and your mapping to support at qdabra dot com. Is that possible, or does the form contain sensitive data?

    Thank you.

    Hi, Jason:

I sent you an email, but wanted to update this thread as well.

In the copy of the form that I received, I didn't see any mapping to a people picker in the mapping that was being used in the command - that is, you had two mapping files, but I only saw one of them being used by the qRules command, and that one didn't include the people picker node.

However, so you know, I tested this using a list I created and the mapping that did have XPath to the people picker node - and it worked fine, so I think its just a matter of getting your form logic squared away.

Hi Hilary, Thank you for your response. I spent some time reviewing the mapping file, and I'm now starting to understand how it all fits together. I was able to get the submit working for multiple list items, but when the people picker field is populated, I am getting an error. The error is "Errors occurred submitting to list: The operation failed because an unexpected error occurred. (Result Code: 0x80020005)", which doesn't really give me much to work with for troubleshooting. could you please review my form, and see if I incorrectly configured a setting. Thank you, Jason

This error occurs when you SharePoint field is a data type that is different from the data you are submitting. Let me guess - is your SharePoint column a Person or Group?

Re: adding a people picker field

Okay - here's the trick to submit data to that type.

Your data needs to look like:

    -1;#JDoe

That is, a minus1, a semicolon, a pound sign, then the user account id.

So, you may want to add another field for this, and map the new field instead - then either use rules or a default value to set the field.

Or, of course, you can change your SharePoint field type to just be text.

Thank you for the quick reply. I was able to change the column to a text type, and the people picker value submitted with no problem. I think in the end i am going to create a field to add the necessary characters, and then map that field to the list. Thanks, jason

    Hi Hilary,

thank you for all of your help, I was able to get this solution working with the formula that you provided. I am planning on posting a sample of my solution for others to follow if they have the same requirement/issue.

    thanks,

    jason
