InfoPath 2010 Qdabra Browser Compatibilty - Submit to SharePoint List

    Hello Qdabra,

I have created an InfoPath 2010 form that submits to a SharePoint list without issue from the client application as described http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/qrules/entry49216.aspx.  However when I deploy the form to SharePoint 2010 the form throws an error.  My account is a farm administrator and has full permissions to the list.  Is QRules 3.2 browser compatible?  I am using the two week trial that expires in two weeks.

If you fix this for me I will certainly recommend your product.  Here is to hoping.

Here is the error message from the Qdabra Error field in the form:

Failed to submit to SharePoint. URL = 'http://usmrdwbs188:8888/reports/_vti_bin/lists.asmx'.

    • I can address this url on the server itself and my local machine.

Here is the error from the hive.

Re: InfoPath 2010 Qdabra Browser Compatibilty - Submit to SharePoint List

qRules has many commands that are browser compatible. SubmitToSharePoint list is one of them.

Here's the bit in the log that matters:

07/28/2011 16:43:06.58 w3wp.exe (0x4064)                       0x3BBC InfoPath Forms Services               Runtime - Data Connections                    eq8m    Warning               Form submission failed. The form is using a data connection to submit to a web service.  The first thing I usually recommend is to verify that you can connect to SharePoint Web Services in your browser environment. Create a new browser form and add a connection to the CheckOutFile method of the lists web service. Make sure it works in client. Then publish to browser and see if your data connection works....

    Parameters for the CheckOutFile method:

    Parameters

    pageUrl

A string that contains the full path to the document to be checked out.

    checkoutToLocal

A string containing "true" or "false" that designates whether the file is to be flagged as checked out for offline editing.

    lastmodified

A string in RFC 1123 date format representing the date and time of the last modification to the file; for example, "20 Jun 1982 12:00:00 GMT".

I leave lastmodified blank, and set checkoutToLocal = false.

    Looping in Patrick's comments...

Yes, qRules will work in the browser provided you enable the sandbox via central admin or publish as an admin deployed form template.

It looks like the issue from your form is related to the submit data connection to a Web Service. You may need to “Convert”the data connection to be a UDC file in a data collection library. If you’ve done that it may be due to server hop issues and you may need to set the credentials in the UDC file or use some kind of proxy. Anyway, those issues aren’t related to qRules.

    Good luck!

What is the credentials does the form use to cll the web service?  Does it take the credentials of the form submitter or the application pool account?

Re: InfoPath 2010 Qdabra Browser Compatibilty - Submit to SharePoint List

If you are using the InfoPath Filler it will be Windows Authentication credentials. If you are using the browser it is a SharePoint account or whatever S hardcoded in the UDC. You could also call GetUserProfile and set username and promote that on submit.

Not to be a bore, but did you ever try verifiying that you can connect to any SharePoint web service from a browser form in your environment as I suggested earlier in the thread?

Which service does a form in a browser use?  Is the account the application pool in IIS?

    Hi DalugaS,

Your issue shouldn't have anything to do with IIS app pools. qRules is just a plugin.

Data connections for browser forms should be converted to UDC files. Did you do that? Can you connect to a SharePoint Web Service, like GetUserProfileInfo?

I GOT IT!!!  Thanks Hillary & Patrick.

I needed to up the permissions for the service that SharePoint was using for InfoPath form.  The accounts was named SharePoint web services default under general security in CA.  It did not have contributer rights to the SharePoint list I was trying to write to, only reader rights.
