    Sharepoint List/Infopath Form Error

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the error I am experiencing.

I am in Sharepoint and Infopath 2010

I created a Sharepoint List and then published an associated InfoPath form using the Customize Form button in the ribbon.

When I try to add items to the list through the Infopath form, everything works fine.

However, when I go to the actual Sharepoint list itself and I try to add, view or edit items in the list, I get an error in a popup window that says "There has been an error while loading the form" and it gives me a correlation ID.  When I view the correlation ID in the ULS logs, this is what I see:

    Critical:
The form template failed to load. (User: 25339, Form Name: Template, IP: , Request: http://xxxxx/PWA/Lists/Document Control/AllItems.aspx, Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:list:-AutoGen-2011-07-06T20:06:20:327Z, Type: ArgumentException, Exception Message: Value does not fall within the expected range.)

I know the error and exception message is not very descriptive, but was wondering if any of you had thoughts on where I should look to resolve this error.

When I go to List Settings and disassociate the Sharepoint list from the Infopath form, I am able to add, view, and edit items in the Sharepoint list again.

I have configured this in a pre-prod and sandbox environment.  It works in our sandbox environment, but not in pre-prod.  From what I can tell, things seem to be set up the same.

Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

To be honest, it looks like a SharePoint bug. You should call Microsoft.

    Re: Sharepoint List/Infopath Form Error

Thanks for the reply.  I am trying to see if my firm will let me open a ticket with MS.

In the meantime, I've been thinking about this issue a lot.

I can add an item and the Infopath form renders without a problem.  The item adds to the Sharepoint list just fine.  It's only when viewing or editing an existing list item where the form does not render and I get the error I described.

The behavior makes me think there is something about the Infopath form that requires something when pulling an existing item from a Sharepoint list?  I checked the Infopath form templates and couldn't find anything.  Any thoughts on other places I might want to look?

    Thanks as always

How about checking to see if it works in a form library? Create an InfoPath form from scratch (not a list form) and copy the view from the list form over into it (ctrl-a, ctrl-c, switch, ctrl-v); add a main data source and bind the fields and publish it to a form library. Use promoted properties to show the data.

Probably this should mean "add fields to form template of the list in Infopath Designer 2010" instead of "add items to the list through the Infopath form"

I created Document Control list and Infopath Sharepoint List Form for it. Everyting works fine for me

It is impossible to disassociate a Sharepoint List from Infopath form template of type "Sharepoint List Form"

You can configure to render list items in default Sharepoint form (non-Infopath form) web pages

    • DispForm.aspx
    • EditForm.aspx
    • NewForm.aspx

instead of web pages linked to Infopath form

    • displayifs.aspx
    • editifs.aspx
    • newifs.aspx

My guess is that you published Infopath form of type different from "Sharepoint Form List" onto the location destined for publishing "Sharepoint List form" type of Infopath form which is usually:

    • <Sharepoint WebApp Path>/Lists/<ListName>

or published from Infopath Designer 2010 onto the old already published Infopath form in Sharepoint Server a newly created "Sharepoint List form" with another incompatible to a list, already existing in Sharepoint, schema

Did you ever find a resolution to this issue?  I'm having the same one.
