I have a form containing SSNs. I would like to encrypt data entry into the field, but also have it unlocked via password (or whatever) when it needs to be viewed by an auditor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

qRules has this feature (as well as tons of other great stuff). You won't find it in InfoPath out of the box, but you could code it yourself. Here's an MSDN link to get you started.
