The saved XML for your form have processing instructions in them. I'm not sure (and you should experiment in a test library) but I wonder if just relinking the XML in SharePoint after changing the library to use the content type would work?

If not, the XML in the library may need to have its processing instructions changed manually - how many production XML do you have?

That is a good idea to relink the form. I do all my testing in another library and will let you know how it works out.

BTW, the XML documents was a hit! Since May, I have currently 106 completed and 26 waiting for completion. That is a lot of work for changing manually!
