    Migrating VS2005 Project to VS2010

    Hi All,

I have created a custom IP 2010 form – I noticed when creating a code behind file the development IDE would be VS2005 despite it not being installed on my machine. I started implementing my functionality in VS2005 and paid little heed to this issue which now has become a problem for me.

    PROBLEM

I need to deploy my custom IP 2010 as a solution package – In order to deploy the form I followed some blogs that wanted to add VSTA 2010 feature from Office 2010 installation. I made sure VSTA 2010 was installed on my machine – I took following steps to ensure VSTA 2010 was installed:

    · Add new features to Office 2010 Installation

o Drill down to VSTA under Office InfoPath 2010.

o Choose Run From My Computer

    o Click Continue Button

This would install VSTA 2010 I suppose – for some weird reason I think VSTA 2010 is not getting installed properly; instead VSTA 2005 is being installed. I followed this blog to migrate my solution to VS 2010:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/infopath/archive/2011/04/14/working-with-vsto-2008-projects-in-infopath-2010.aspx

The other solution I tried was backing up existing VS2005 solution and convert it to VS 2010 (by opening the existing projects). All workarounds have failed – please advise which approach should I use? Is VSTA 2010 available online for download?

    Thanks in advance.

NB: I have ONLY Office Professional Plus 2010 installed on my machine

I think Microsoft's current stance is to use InfoPath with VSTA, and by VSTA, that means the 2005 version bundled with office.  I know it carries its share of drawbacks, but I haven't found it to be that bad.

This blog video has a few points that seem a bit strange to me, but you can see what their stance is:

FYI that blog post you linked to says nothing about VS 2010.
