Combining 2 xml data fields in drop box

    Hi all,

I am looking for a way to combine 2 xml data fields into 1 drop box that people can select from. Right now it is pulling data from the secondary data source that has my xml data.
WBS1 is my first data field and Name is the second data field.

Somehow I am hoping to get the data as: "WBS1 - Name" in the drop box that people can select

    /ns1:myFields/ns1:application/ns1:WBS1

    Any thoughts?

InfoPath will not allow the dropdown box to be populated with aggregate values.  They will need to be present in a field somewhere.  Where is the secondary data source coming from?  Is there any way it could be modified to have a "dummy" field where the combined value could be evaluated and stored?

Re: Combining 2 xml data fields in drop box

    Thank you for the reply,

the second data source is coming from an XML file. I can combine the values of 2 data fields with the concat command in a calculated field, but then I can not use it in the pulldown menu. Right now I worked arround the issue by letting my users first lookup the data for the correct information and then to let them use the looked up information from the pulldown menu. So in a way they can find the correct information in 2 steps instead of 1.

But thank you for the explanation that the dropdown box will not allow to be populated with aggregated values.
