Copy "MyFields" from one infopath template to another.

I have about 80 xsn's each with well over 200 my:fields or data sources, I am looking to make a new template to view this data, I was wondering if there would be anyway to transfer my fields from one info path to the other so the process of switching out templates would go as seemless as possible. Thanks in advance.

So, your new template will have 16,000 fields? Not to be a spoilsport, but that seems like a poor schema design.

What exactly are you trying to do? Create one template that replaces all your existing 80 templates? Do you have existing XML that you also hope to be able to open with your new template?

InfoPath doesn't copy / paste well from one form to another as far as controls go. And for data sources, you can create a data source off the schema from another form, but it has some quirks. The main annoying one being that if you create the template from another schema, it will lock the schema in the form.

You may just want to start with whatever template has most of what you need, and manually add to it instead, but I would not really recommend creating a form with such an immense schema.....

When you say "view" this data, are you just in need of a reporting solution that can show the data from the assorted XML for those 80 XSN?

Sorry about that I have about 80 xml's and 1 .xsn. I am going to create a new .xsn template but want to pull the old xml's up in the new .xsn template. I am figuring that inorder to do so the "my fields" would have to be the same, unfortanitly I do not want to write out all 200+ fields again, letter by letter, in order to do this and was hoping there would be some way to get them over to the new .xsn

I would just revise my current XSN instead of starting over at this point. Is there a reason to not revise the current XSN?

Yes, that whole reason is a mess within itself, on my first day with InfoPath I was saving my progress, and I actually published it to my desktop, and then the file got deleted. I somehow have a copy/version of it that works just fine but only I can access it, so I was going to remake it in order to cut all ties with the published one, and then the ultimate goal is for it to be published on a SharePoint where everyone can access it.

Oh - so you maybe have a cached version of the template?

    Possibly?

What version of Windows / InfoPath are you using? You want to search online for the location of the InfoPath cache - I don't know off-hand where it is, but if you find it, you may be able to save yourself some work....

This is where I am at now...

and to now break ties with the other forms(and the published one on my computer)  how would I change the template ID?

Under the form properties. So, in design mode, under the File menu.
