Re: Error 2869 When Installing Qtools trial

    Hi Bad Dog,

You must be in Telluride, CO (9545 above sea level). How are the lungs?

OK, so this is a most typical error and the only think we are doing with qRules v3.3 release (next month?) is to fix this vexing install voodoo.

Basically, what is happening is that it fails to register the sample InfoPath templates that come with the solution. The usual suspects are:

    • You have InfoPath running (so it can't install the templates from the command line) - if so, just close it and make sure the process is dead (task manager) and rerun
    • You don't have permissions to install them - try running the setup.exe or msi as "admin": right click and select "run as admin"
    • Some other unhappiness due to InfoPath's *state* - try rebooting and redoing it as admin without IP running

Usually, one of those fixes will result in setup satori. If not, please continue to complain in this forum and we'll give you some free assistance in Live Meeting to ferret out those vexing vermin.

    Thanks for your patience!

We love people who try to install qRules and complain when it doesn't work. Seriously!

Patrick, thanks for the reply.  Tried all of these with same result.  So, here I am "Continuing to complain."  I look forward to working with you to figure this out.

In addition to the advice above, try deleting the folder created by the installer before retrying the installation. That folder is:

    C:\Program Files\Qdabra Software\Qdabra Rules Library

Thanks for the reply.  I checked and that folder does not exist on my computer.  Any other ideas on how to get qtools installed??

Re: Error 2869 When Installing Qtools trial

Ok, I uncovered some additional information about this error.  Instead of running setup.exe in the extracted folder, I ran QdabraRulesLibraryTrial.msi.  It appeared to follow the same install process.  However, when the process failed, I received the following error:   "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: The following form template cannot be registered: C:\Program Files (x86)\Qdabra Software\Qdabra Rules Library\Forms\qRulesForm.xsn  Access is denied."

Before clicking OK to close the error notification window, I looked at the C:\Program Files (x86)\Qdabra Software\Qdabra Rules Library\Forms\ folder and three files are listed there: Qdabra InfoPath to SharePoint List Tool.xsn; QdFile.xsn; and qRulesForm.xsn.  I could also open that form in InfoPath.  When I click OK to close the error notification window, the 2869 error notification is displayed.  Clicking OK there aborts the installation and removes all the files.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

How about a quick online meeting to debug? I'm around tonight. Send email to Qdabra's Support alias with a convenient time and number to call. PS> seems like user permission issue ...

Just wanted to update this thread - the new build of qRules (v3.3) installed without issue.
