Update template part is not working

See recipe at bottom of this page: Replace an existing template part with a newer version.

This does not work for me. When I right-click the info icon, I get a regular context menu and MiniToolbar. Cut, Copy, Paste etc.

How do I force this Update-menu to appear for me?

    Thanks

    Hi LailaH,

I've never seen this feature but I heard about it when we were reviewing InfoPath 2007 at Microsoft in 2005 and 2006. Before you do the steps, are you replacing the XTP with the latest version as described in the first paragraph? Make sure the version number changes when you do this - otherwise it won't sense any change.

Please let us know if you get it working. XTPs are a very cool feature in InfoPath that more people should know about.

Re: Update template part is not working

    Hi, thanks for answering :)

I do everything by the recipe, I get the blue info-icon that has mouseover text "New version(MyTemplatePart)". Everything except when I try to update, I DO NOT get the "update" option in the menu, as they say you are supposed to!

In most software there is a shortcut and a "longcut", i.e. the function is available also elsewhere than the shortcut. It seems this is not the case here, I have been searching resources and looking for it myself in Infopath, with no luck so far.

This is quite frustrating. It is like a big white elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about.. Does not help that XTPs are a very cool feature, if I have to start building my large multi-view form from scratch to press in the change in XTP...

Any further pointers would be greatly appreciated.
