    Need some experienced advice...please.

I need some sugestions on to the BEST PRACTICES for filling this scenario:

I will have a SharePoint site and, using InfoPath, I will need to have access to three different forms for every user.  One is person form, one is project form and one is organization team form.

Each person may (or may not, depending on their accesses) add or change data for each of the individual forms.  Each form will have it's own underlying data table and support tables as required.  I wanted to have the forms on a single page to the user, with tab controls to move across the forms for each category, and record navigation buttons to move down through the records of each form. Here is the quandry:

Should I do it in one InfoPath form with different views for each different table? then the data sources for the single form gets a bit hairy....

    or

Should I have separate forms for each table, and then have the tab object be 'outside' the infopath forms....

    Or

Is there a way I can open forms within a single form in InfoPath (similar to subforms in MS Access?

What is the 'recommended path' and the general 'best practice'?

You could do this either by assigning user roles and restricting access by the role.  Then you could set up your form as different views or sections that hide or unhide based on the user role.

You coud also do separate forms with a link in the main form that would only  be active for certain individuals, either by user role or perhaps SP group.

     Hope this helps.

Does this account for the different data sources for the person, project and team forms?  or would I have to make one enmassed 'Main' datasource?

also, what do you ride?  I got a Harley XL50 myself....

You should be able to create a data source for the people with a field that contains their role, title, group, basically whatever will designate their ability to view and/or edit.  Then use that field to filter the query on the projects and organization forms that fall under their profile.

I will try some ideas for the filtering..there are about 5 parameters that 'adjust' what a person can see.  I know that will come later.  I'm wondering about how to do the 'tabbed' type of display I'm attempting, having dinsinct tabs for each different type of record on a single form page.  The method I had for 'tabs' had a different view for each button.  I'm trying to figure the underlying database for multiple views of unrelated data records on a single form.  Thanks for the help.

Rode to work today.  cool and damp in DC, but still a nice ride.

Thank you...but I think I'm going to start a new discussion under views.   I think I can narrow the scope of the problem there.

     Ride safe
