    smart dropdownlists

Hi guys, I really need your help!
Here's my problem: I have a repeated table with 2 dropdown inside populated with hidden fields in the form and linked together. For example:
    DropDown1 DropDown2
    A 1
    A 2
    A 3
    A 4
    B 1
    B 2
    B 3
    C 1
    C 2
    C 3

Well, my boss asks me to avoid users to insert the values (A,1) twice and populate the second dropdown with only the values not choosen before with the same value of the first dropdown. So, if user sets: A,1 then he can choose for value A only 2,3 or 4 and so on.
It's quite difficult to explain, but I suppose you're smart enough to understand the situation. How can i do this?

    Thank u so much!

You can just filter the second list based on the first list.

Do a quick search on the words 'dropdown' and 'filter' and you should get a thorough description on how to do this.

    Hi AndersR,
I have no idea about filtering in this way: please, give em an example about users to insert the same couple of value of the dropdownlists twice! How can you populate the second dropdown without the elements choosen previously for the same value of the first dropdownlist?
    Thank u very much.

    Hi,

I don't understand in what is link your dropdowns a secondary datasource!

He has an example about how to do this:

    http://www.infopathdev.com/downloads/free/default.aspx?i=ca055c4afa964f04a6ffc03dca3c8bfa

Is it not what you try to make?

Ok so make a filter on your second dropdown!

properties of your second dropdown->entries: click the button->select your multiple entry->Filter data-> Make a condition.

    I'm right?

I think what he's trying to do is this..

    Row_____Letter_____Number
    =========================
    1_______A__________1
    -------------------------
    2_______A__________?
    -------------------------

Where ? is any of the numbers except 1 because there is an existing row that contains both 'A' and '1'.
I'm guessing that the entries for the dropdowns are not coming from a secondary datasource because if it is, you can readily apply filters for the second dropdown thereby ensuring that all letter-number combination for all rows are unique. This is wonderfully illustrated inhttp://infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=075c4e8e56db4fa5bd63615b712c0d91 andhttp://infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=9f6fda3a14c14ac4924cf0a382928432
