First I would create the data connection to the webservice you wish to use.  Once that was done, I would insert a button and create rules to call the web service and perform the action desired.

Then I would save the whole thing as an XTP that can be added into any form.

     Hope that helps

You can do this by making a new form template and saving that template after applying all the rules to the button.

I have made similar form templates myself such as Personnal Information Section, Approval Section, and Submit Sections cause I use them in almost every other form I make in my company.

You can do this as follows:

    1. Open Infopath Designer 2010

    2. In the New Tab, Click on any of the 3 options given under Template Parts depending on your requirement.

    3. Apply the rules after entering the control.

    4. Save the template at some palce where you can easily find it.

When you need to use the Contrlo again do the following:

    1. When you open the Controls Pane, at the bottom you'll see an option: "Add or remove Custom Controls". Click this option.

    2. Click Add in the next window.

    3. Select the "Template Part" Option and click next

    4. Browse the template part you made earlier

    5. Finish this process. Click Ok. At the bottom of the Controls Pane, You'll see the Template under Custom Controls.

You can insert this control at any location. Hope this helps

Don't forget to keep the control in a section, so when you add the control in the new form, it shows up in  its own section.

You can make an new ActiveX Control also. I can explain that if you need. But see if this solves your problem or not. If not, I'll explain the Custom ActiveX Control

I need to develop a custom control for InfoPath 2010 that will run as browser enabled form within SharePoint 2010.

Searching the Web, I couldn't find any helpful information about developing such type of controls. It seems also there is a bit of confusion about the possibility to develop Infopath custom control in .NET, with or without COMInterop to publish is as activeX.

Several of the articles findable on common search engines refers to IP2003 or IP2007, when ActiveX controls where supported.

Could you please point me to some resource I could use for develpoing custom controls for InfoPath 2010 with NET?

    Thank you

May I please repeat Dario C's question. I searched on the internet to try and find out if I can create custom control for infopath 2010 browser enabled forms using .Net and C# but could not find anything. If the experts may please point me in the right direction I would appreciate that. Amar
