Hi,

I saw several posts with similar errors, but can't find a real solution.

I've a web form made in Infopath 2010 that submit to a list using http://<site>/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?WSDL - UpdateListItems.

Using the preview of thw Infopath it work well submiting to the list. When I publish the form to the site, and open it in a browser, when I submit it give me the error "An error occurred while trying to connect to a Web service."

In the Event Viewer of the server I can see the Event ID 5337 with:

Business logic failed due to an exception. (User: ABC\user1, Form Name: form_NewOcorrencia, IP: , Request:http://web1/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XsnLocation=http://web1/FormServerTemplates/form_NewOcorrencia.xsn&SaveLocation=http://web1/FormsOcorrencias&Source=http://web1/FormsOcorrencias/Forms/AllItems.aspx&DefaultItemOpen=1, Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:form-NewOcorrencia:-myXSD-2011-05-25T11-10-49, Type: WebException, Exception Message: The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.)

Any ideas?

Hi -- are you using a data connection to the UpdateListItems method? Can you access other SharePoint web services from InfoPath browser forms in your environment (try with OData or you could use the CheckOutFile method - it is pretty simple).

If you are using a data connection, the field you are using for the list name parameter can't have a namespace (or at least this was the case when I first started using this method w/ ShP 2010 -- namespace on the node would cause the submit to fail). But since your error is an unauthorized, I'm wondering if something in your enviro is preventing web service method access from browser forms.

 Did you ever get a resolution to this?

So - are you also using a 2010 form with logic to submit to a list? Works in preview, returns the same error in the browser?

Get in touch with your SharePoint Admin, have them check the ULS logs. This is usually a server-side issue, and they need to disable loopback check.

 Thank you for the replies, unfortunately our admin covers the entire university campus so he is swamped constantly and not much available LOL. I will let him know your recommendations, thanks!

He finally got around to doing your suggestion, but the error is persisting. Any other ideas?

Not without looking at the ULS logs - I'm sorry, it isn't something that can be solved by guessing....Your SharePoint admin needs to review the logs to determine what's going wrong.

I figured, unfortunately our SP admin is not very helpful, took him almost a month to finally get the logs to me. From what I can tell from the logs it is failing because of a 401 error (unauthorized). At some point the form is trying to start a web service and is not being allowed. I have honestly received more help online than I have from our admin, he is trying to get away from SP so he can be pretty unhelpful. I don't suppose you can tell anything from the picture attachment? I really appreciate your time!

Yes, using a CAML function to iterate over a repeating table and then using a web service to create those items from the CAML response into individual list items in another SP library. Attached my form and also the custom code, I am at my wits end with this, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you looking at this.
