InfoPath 2007 Data Connection - "Address" Field Not Available

I am developing InfoPath 2007 forms using InfoPath 2010 for a SharePoint 2007 environment.  I'm having issues with data connections between InfoPath forms and pulling in a field named "Address".  Here are my repro steps.

Open InfoPath 2010, and create a blank 2007 template.  In this template, create 3 fields named "Address", "ADDRESS", and "SiteAddress".  Publish this form to a SharePoint 2007 document library, being sure to promote all three fields to the library.

Now create a second blank 2007 template.  In this template, create a data connection pointing to the location of the document library of the first form you created.  In the list of available fields, I see that "ADDRESS" and "SiteAddress" are available options, but "Address" is not.

If I update this data connection to the current version, the field "Address" is now available.  If I then revert the data connection to the previous version, "Address" is no longer an option.

Can anybody else repro this?  If so, what's the issue here?  If not, does anybody have any insight into why this might be happening for my forms specifically?  I was able to repro this publishing to both a SharePoint 2007 environment as well as a SharePoint 2010 environment with the same results.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Update: I open the 2nd form in InfoPath 2007, and "Address" is available.  Why would InfoPath 2010 specifically not see this field?

Kind of behaving as if something is not case sensitive (which is weird, it should be case sensitive, dealing with XML). Is there a reason you need two fields with the same name and different casing?

No - this test is about functionality.  Currently I have two existing forms (Form1 and Form2), where Form1 contains building and address information, and Form2 is trying to pull that data in.  Form2 cannot see "Address" from Form1.

In your initial description, you state that you created a form that has 3 fields in it -- one named "Address" and one named "ADDRESS" -- I'm wondering if you still have this issue if in your form that you are creating a data connection to you give those fields distinct names (i.e. different in more than case). Again, this doesn't seem like it should be an issue, but it also doesn't make a lot of sense to me to design a single form with two fields with names that differ only in case -- wouldn't you just make Address repeating?

Please don't confuse my test case with an actual production scenario.  My repro steps I provided are to see if others are able to mimic the issue I am having with two production forms.  In my production forms, there is only one Address field called "Address".  The second of the two production forms does not show "Address" as an option when a 2007 form is designed in 2010.  However, when the 2007 form is designed in 2007, "Address" is available.

Okee doke. I'm trying to follow the steps in your first post -- when you promoted Address, did the field default to a site column group for you? It did for me, so I changed it to create a new column in the library. As you can see from my screenshot, I have both columns available.

I promote it by going to File > Form Options, then into Property Promotion and Add "Address".  Furthermore, upon choosing the Publish location, I verify that "Address" is listed in Column Name.  I hope this answers your question.

And you're doing this with a 2007 template, but within InfoPath 2010?

Yes, InfoPath 2010, creating a 2007 compatible "Filler" template, publishing the first form to a SharePoint 2007 install. When I promoted the properties, I created new columns in my library for all the fields -- is that what you did as well?

Oh I see - you did it with a 2007 Filler Form.  I've been using simply "Blank 2007 Form".  I tried using these steps with a Blank 2007 Filler Form and I got similar results as you.

If you follow the steps using just "Blank 2007 Form" do you see "Address" as well?

Okay, I changed to a browser form and republished to a new library. I created a new browser 2007 form, and still was able to access the Address field that I'd promoted. How did you promote your field? As a new column to the library?
