Since move to Win7 InfoPath SPD workflows frequently go straight to "Complete" on initial submittal.

Since the company has moved to Win7 InfoPath SPD workflows frequently go straight to "Complete" on initial submittal. The same data can be submitted and some workflows fire, while others do not. I'm still working on finding a pattern. Has anyone seen this before? The XP clients seem to be fine still.

Yes I have found this issue. It seems to have no pattern that I can find also. I also have users on both XP and Win7. however the workflow will set to complete with XP users too.. this is really frustrating as the workflow works well in most cases but fails around 10% of the time

In the meantime if you would like to be notified when this undesired condition occurs you can add another workflow that runs when the document changes. Simply check for these conditions:

IF [workflow name] not equals 5 AND 2 AND 4 AND is not empty
Send email: Include the library, status, and links to the library, document, and workflow history (http://[your server]/sites/[site name]/_layouts/workflow.aspx?ID=[Workflow name:ID]&List=[Your list GUID] so you can restart right from the email.

Here are the built-in workflow values:
    2: In Progress
    4: Canceled
    5: Completed
    15: Stopped

We applied SP2 and that eliminated the problem for a week or two. Then it's returning slowly. I think it may be related to the timer service not starting the workflow.

Thanks for the info. However the list is monitored often so I have added in a manual start option so that "failed" workflows can be triggered. This will have to do until I can figure out a perm fix.
