Submitted Items Not Appearing in SharePoint List

    Afternoon,

I have gone through the steps to link my InfoPath form to a list I have on a my workgroup. The fields are non-repeating and there is no need to update them once they have been submitted, so I didn't include the /id parameter. The problem is that when I submit the data doesn't appear in the list. I recieve no errors. All required fields are filled out, and the securites shouldn't be an issue. Everything seems to be set up correctly, but I just can't get it to work. Is there anyone else who has had the same problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi:

Do you have the Error node from the QdabraRules data source on your form? Any errors there?

Can you attach your form template to the Options tab in a reply and I can take a quick look at it?

Thanks for the quick reply! I am not getting any errors from the node. I attached the file. The view I am trying to submit is the 'TSCD Participant Entry Form'. Thanks again.

Re: Submitted Items Not Appearing in SharePoint List

     Hi,

Unfortunately I have a similar issue with qRules submitting to a SharePoint list. I did some troubleshooting and realised this only happens when I include dropdown (or list) fields looking up data via another dat connection to a SharePoint list. When I omit the fields (that lookup to SP via data connection) the form submits alright, even submits all the repeating sections but once I include any of the fields then it doesn't submit. Just doesn't move, no errors nothing.

Is there a different way I'm supposed to handle lookup fields or dropdown lists?

    Thanks.

Are you using qRules with custom code in your form? If so, did you follow the document here to configure it? If not -- that is, if you accidentally added custom code after injecting with qRules, you may have disabled qRules. I tried previewing your form and entering a simple command in the Command field (GenerateGuid) and had no result in the Result node, so I'm thinking that may be the case here.

Hi, Latte: When you submit data to a column that is a lookup, you need to submit a valid ID for an item in that lookup. So your field that you are submitting from probably should be bound to a dropdown, with the choices provided by the same list as the lookup column, so that you can submit the ID and display the field you want to use for the display value.

Hi, thanks for looking at this for me. At least now I have an idea of what I'm doing wrong. Unfortunately I don't think I completely understand the concept though. will you kindly point me in the direction of an article I can view Or please shed a bit more light on this. Thanks again.

Well, the command uses the UpdateListItems web method of the Lists web service, so you can probably do some searching on using that with lookup columns to find additional info -- but basically, you need to submit a valid ID -- when you add a lookup field to your list, it stores the data something like this: 1;#ItemName

So, the field you are submitting will need to submit something the lookup will accept. I believe you can submit just the ID of the item from its source.

Hey thanks for the help. I reinjected the form with qrules and it worked great! Thanks again!

     Hi Hilary,

I've not been able to find anything really useful. Would appreciate more help, if you would post specific steps that would be great. Of course keeping in mind that I'm not a developer. I can't believe I'm the only person who's had this issue using qRules, am I?

    Thanks a lot.

Re: Submitted Items Not Appearing in SharePoint List

Thanks I've been able to sort this out without using any code (not a great fan of code).

I created another field and then populated that field with the ID value from the original list being looked up to, I used filters to make sure the new field (e.g. supplierID) showed only the ID for the value selected in the old field (supplier). Once I verified that was working correctly I just mapped the field displaying ID values (supplierID) to the lookup column in the list.

So the supplier field in the form is just for the user to select the right supplier but the supplierID field is what is actually submitted to the form. Do you have a cleaner way of doing this? Works great for me though.

Also, I've not been able to submit a multiple-selection list box to the SharePoint list, either to a lookup column, a text column or even a rich text column in SharePoint. Any ideas on this?

     Thanks again.

Re: Submitted Items Not Appearing in SharePoint List

Well, generally, for something like your Supplier field -- I'd have a drop down control bound to that field. I'd use the list ID for the value in the drop down, and the Supllier name for the display. This way the Supplier field will contain the ID. That can be an issue if that field is also promoted to the library your form submits to, so you may not want to take that approach. I definitely wasn't trying to suggest you use code for this.

For a multi-select, I think the items are separated by another ";" -- here's a link to a TechNet post on that. You may be able to use the qRules command for a delimited list for that, or you could try a double eval formula.

Re: Submitted Items Not Appearing in SharePoint List

I'm thinking of using a repeating table instead of a multiple-select list. Can I submit a repeating table within a repeating section with qRules? It will actually meet my requirements. How will I accomplish this? Thanks.

Unfortunately, you cannot submit nested repeating data to SharePoint from qRules. It is a feature we are planning on implementing in a future release, but I can't give you a timeline on that. Again, you could use a field at the same level as the repeating data you are submitting that uses a double eval formula to concatenate the values from your repeating table together, giving a user experience like that of a promoted repeating field in a SharePoint library.

Re: Submitted Items Not Appearing in SharePoint List

    Double eval does seem the right way to go. Been trying it though and have run into some issues; from this post http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/t/14658.aspx?PageIndex=1 I realize I need to do 2 things;

    1. Add a default formula for the text box

    2. Create a rule on the muliple-item list box

Both of thes with the same double eval formula of course. I've successfully done this, but I think there's a problem with my rule. When I select the desired boxes from the muliple-item box it only populates the last selected item. When I deselect then the items are selected properly, this leads me to believe the issue is with the rule but the formula for the default value of the text box is working properly.

The xpath from my rule gives me

    xdMath:Eval(xdMath:Eval(xdXDocument:GetDOM("Suppliers")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/dfs:Suppliers/@ID[../@Company = current()], 'concat(.,"#;")'), "..")

I'm displaying a filtered ID for an item in the text box.

     Any suggestions?

    Thanks.
