InfoPath Dev

Please forgive my ignorance as I am a complete newbie to both Infopath and Sharepoint.

I have a particular business requirement in which the most novice user should be able to submit some info that other people can see and edit if necessary.  After some research, I chose Infopath forms and saving to a form library in Sharepoint because of the following requirements:

• The ease of filling out a browser-enabled form via Sharepoint. 
• The form data needed to include repeating fields.
• We need versioning enabled on the completed forms.

The last requirement has me scratching my head:

• Each form will have associated documents that also need to be version-enabled.

I know that versioning on attachments is not an OOTB option.  I know I can create a separate document library to store these attachments and link them to the particular form in the form library.  What I'm missing is an EASY way for users to upload new documents, edit current docs... from the form itself.

Take a look at qRules. It supports uploading attachments via an InfoPath form to a SharePoint document library or a separate folder.

 I installed the Free Trial, but I can't get it to work.  I'm on SP2010.  When I publish the form it says that it can only be opened in the filler (did not used to do this).  Furthmore, when I click to add a document, I get an error that the path to QdabraRules.xml is not valid.

Sounds like a couple different issues. When qRules is injected into your form, you are adding code, thus for browser forms you'll need to either admin approve or sandbox publish. InfoPath usually makes sandbox publishing pretty easy if a user has the correct permissions, so you may not be a Site Collection Admin?

As to the path to the QdabraRules.xml -- I'm not sure what occurs for some users when they publish, but I've see this occasionaly -- InfoPath has somehow modified the QdabraRules data connection to look for the XML file outside of the form template.... Walk through the QdabraRules data connection again in the data connection wizard, and select the QdabraRules.xml from the form resource files as the data source.

 I am the site admin.  It's a brand new Sharepoint box I installed myself.  I am new to SP, so I don't know what sandbox publish is.

The QdabraRules.xml error went away at one point.

You may want to simply admin approve the template. There are instructions on that in the qRules user guide, I believe. Look for "USING QRULES IN INFOPATH FORMS SERVICES (IPFS)" -- page 10 of the version I've got open.

I'm assuming you are using SharePoint 2010. If 2007, there is no sandbox, and you'll need to simply admin approve.
