    Unbound text Box

I have developed a simple infopath input form to allow users to submit data onto a database. The problem I have is that I want to include some text boxes that are not bound to the database. These text boxes are designed to include some data on the print view only. How do I include text boxes that have no Binding for this purpose?

Hi BobSka and welcome to our forum!
You will have to write code to submit data from 2DS (secondary data source) to a DB. An alternative is to create main data source nodes for them and copy them. Not sure why you would want to save 2DS data. If it's save-worthy it should be in the main data source, no?

Hard to explain but the print view is attached to a daily work running sheet. It includes the call sign and vehicle that our employee drove for a particular shift. This data is not added to the database and is only included on the attached print view. I wanted a simple method where our staff could fill in all the required details and submit to the database and the printed version included some extra details. I am not a programmer and have struggled with Infopath but I have got it to do what I want, but I have hit a hurdle with this binding issue.

    thanks for the promp reply

Looks like the simple agricultural option is to have our staff hand write the additional details on the printed copy.

    Hi,

Why you don't make a xml with your details fields and after bind it to infopath as a secondary datasource!

So you can link your textbox to this field make rules for define the value like you do with the field of the primary datasource and the secondary datasource is not send to your database!
