    GetUserProfileByName

    I'm using GetUserProfileByName to grab the current users name for a form.  This has been all set up properly and working.  However, I just recently updated my SP database cause the content database said that it needed updating.  Ever since then, GetUserProfileByName returns the <domain>\sharepoint_farm service account instead of the actual logged on server.  I've even changed the authentication modes to force user credentials but GetUserProfileByName still reflects the service account.

    I'm sure it's a simple fix.  Anybody have any ideas?

    I would first check the SharePoint web.config to verify that impersonation is on:

    <identity impersonate="true" />

    You may also check the app pool accounts configured in SharePoint Central administration.  If accounts were updated directly in IIS Manager, SharePoint may have reset the accounts and caused some side effects.

    Are there any errors or warnings in the eventlog?

    Turns out that this problem occurs only after I inject the form with QRules... Has anyone seen this or have a workaround?

    Before injecting the GetUserProfileByName returns the logged on user, after injecting it returns the SP Farm service account...

    So prior to injection, your form was not admin approved or sandboxed, but after injecting, it is, correct? I wonder if it has to do with the form being admin approved now?

    I'm not sandboxing or using admin approval at all, in any way (unless I'm unaware of sharepoint forcing it).  Is it automatically queued for required admin approval just by injecting it?

    qRules is code, and as such for a browser form will require admin approval or sandbox publication. I made an assumption this was a browser form, is that correct?

    If you have permissions to publish to a sandbox, InfoPath will publish a browser form with code correctly without you having to set anything specifically.....
