Repeating Table within a Repeating Section.

Been ages since I had to develop a new IP form and the brain has locked on what should be a simple question.  Any help would be appreciated.

I am developing an order form for supplies that may get shipped to multiple locations.

I created a repeating section that is tied to a SQL table and collects event name, ship to address, etc. Repeating so that multiple orders can be placed on the same form even with different shipping addresses.

Now what I need is a repeating table tied to the same data source  within the repeating section.   This is where the user will select from a drop down the items they need.  The drop down is poulated by another SQL table.  I want a repeating table so the user can order multiple items for the same event.

Without the repeating table, the user would have to enter the event name and shipping for each item ordered.  Not desireable.

When I try to add a repeating table to the repeating section tied to the same data source I get the error "A Repeating Table must be bound to a field or group that repeats".  The SQL data source set set to repeat since the section repeats.

What obvious issue am I missing?

    Thanks for any help.

I just tried creating a secondary data connection to the same database but being that it is secondary, I cannot make it repeating.

    Thank you for your Help.

    Hi:

I'm assuming that your data structure is correct on the SQL side -- this repeating table for items ordered has the correct relationship with the orders table (sorry for guessing at names -- it just sounds like a classic "Order" and "OrderItems" scenario....)

I think what you are saying is that when InfoPath interprets the schema of your tables, it is assuming the OrderItems table structure is not repeating? Have you tried adding some dummy data to the table (more than one row!) to give InfoPath a hand as it tries to intuit the schema?

These are all existing SQL tables that are used in a current form but where the repeating table is not within the repeating section.

IP will not even allow be to create a repeating table withing the repeating section.

    Thank you for your Help.

Can you perhaps provide some details on your SQL tables e.g. Table1, Field1, Field2   Table2, Field1 and any fields in each table which link them?

Depending on the structure may impact on how you accomplish what you are trying to to in Infopath form layout.
