InfoPath Dev

Hi,

I have InfoPath form in SharePoint library which allow users to open and fill up the form then print it out but not allow submitting or saving in the library. I have one last requirement to create counter field in the form. This counter should give incremental/ unique number each time the user open the form.

The idea is to have a unique number in that field each time the form is opened or previewed. I am thinking of create a rule on-load event that increment that field.

Im new to infopath I don’t know how to accomplish this…please help!

An incremental number would probably require code. Think about the possibilities: what if the user closes the form without saving or submitting? You would need to reset the "next available" number. What if two users open the form at the same time? You'll need to have one of the users get x and the other user get x+1. So, in summary, I don't think on load rules are enough, and I believe you'll need to turn to custom code, since it is not a trivial scenario. Good luck!

and it is work fine....just i used a custom page after the user submit the form, so he will not go to the form library.
