Textbox autosize in letter like forms

Using InfoPath 2010 with SharePoint 2010 to aid in letter-like forms, how can a textbox control be made to autosize with the text entered in a Browser rendered form?

We have letters that we would like to turn into InfoPath 2010 forms and use in SharePoint 2010.  The letters have text and occasional textboxes for users to enter data.  The textboxes are also sometimes filled in with data from a SharePoint list. We set the textbox to auto width and it resizes nicely in the InfoPath Filler when data is entered either by the user or through data connections to a SharePoint list. We would like to use the same letter-like form through the Browser via SharePoint 2010.  When we view the form through the Browser, the textboxes are all sized to a default size which does not resize with data entry.

The textboxes behave like a normal HTML input box which makes some sense.  They do not resize with text entry.  They do not have their size based on data they contain regardless of whether it is input by the user or loaded from a data source defined in the InfoPath form.

After exprimenting a bit and searching the internet, we are under the impression that textbox autosize behavior is NOT supported through Browser forms.

We would like to understand either how to obtain the textbox autosize behavior or gain some confirmation that it is actually NOT supported through Browser forms.

It is my understanding that it is not supported in the browser. The auto value gets recognized, and then replaced with a specific width when the view is rendered. This is not helpful to you. However, you might still be able to get away with it partly by having a print view which uses expression boxes (width: auto --if this doesn't also fail in the  browser).

I have the same issue. I have a form with 2 views. The user enters the data on one view and then can review the information presented in a different format on the other.

For me the expressions boxes are no good as, if the user puts paragraph breaks in the text on the entry view, the breaks are not carried through to the display view when using expression boxes. The breaks are carried through to the display view when using normal fields set to read only but then obviously the auto-size doesn't work so I end up with a single line text box with scroll bars.

Are there any other options for me on this?

I'm having a similar issue, using a whole number data-type. We have a form entry where a user would plug in a dollar amount. We want the print view to populate the whole number in the middle of a form letter. Eg. Cost = 50 ---> the output would be something like "The cost of production with be $50, due on delivery." If I choose auto, there is a huge space between "be" and "$50".

Check this answer out: http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/20683/78582.aspx#78582 Use calculated values instead of the actual field, worked a charm!
