    Validation Check

Hi all...I have come across an intersting check on a field. It allows for email address or cell number and I want to validate that the box only accepts either one and nothing else. From what I have tried its just not working. Is this even possible, to check validations against 2 different types of data? If so, some direction or solution would be gladly accepted. Thanks for the help.

    Hi TaFavorite and welcome!

Absolutely, you can do this using regular expressions. Just use the condition "matches a pattern" and use a regular expression in the dialog that pops up that takes either of those. For more on how to create regular expressions, please Google the web. Lots of stuff out there that describe how they work. Good luck!

SharePoint Form Validation will endow you with the ability to check whether input value is against a regular expression for SharePoint list field data. It supports frequently –used expressions in setting pages. You can set the regular expression for specified column as internet email or cell number. However, still now you can’t set multiple regular expressions. Form Validation will upgrade itself to improve that. SharePoint 2010 integrates the column validation, have a try.
