    Submit to list

I have a repeating table that submits to a list.  It works fine in our 2007 environment in the browser.  In 2010- I can only get it to work when I submit using the client, but when I open the form in the browser and submit, I get this error:

Failed to submit to SharePoint. URL = 'http://sharpointsite.com/sites/dept/portal/_vti_bin/lists.asmx'.

The url is valid and it works in the client- so I'm not sure what I would change.  Can anyone provide more info on this error? I don't think it is the form, just looking for more information.

    Hi Pam,

Are you using the latest version of qRules? We just released 3.1 last week and you should have received an email. Let me know if you didn't.

In any case, v2.4 should work just like v3.1 for SubmitToSharePointList. qRules is a code library that you add to your solution. It contains the most commonly requested features that require code. Our goal is to make it easy for you to extend your form with rules so you don't have to worry about code or maintaining it. Because qRules is a library, in 2007 you had to Admin deploy it to your shP site to get it to work. In 2010, you don't have to admin deploy but you do have to make sure the Sandbox features are turned on for the server. When you publish, make sure the form is just set to normal Form (not Administrator Approved) and publish it to a site that has the sandbox configured. To verify the sandbox is turned on for your site, go to SharePoint Central Admin and click on Manage Services on this Server (under System Settings). Verify that "Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Sandboxed Code Service" is started. If not, you'll want to activate it. If that still does not solve your problem, it's probably because you haven't converted your data connections to UDCX files.

    Hope this helps unblock you,

Also, if you injected qRules into the form as a 2007 form it won't work with 2010 sandbox. You need to reinject qRules as a 2010 browser form to get that to work. You should be able to take the existing XSN and reinject and change the setting at that time. Just another thing to watch out for. Of course, if you already injected qRules and selected 2010 and browser options, you should not have to worry about this.

It's a complex form, so I don't want to upgrade it to the IP2010 format - which would be required to publish it as a sandboxed solution.   So I didn't re-inject the form.   Same IP2007 form, same qrules, same server name- just on SharePoint 2010 instead of SharePoint 2007.

If I open the form in the client, the submit works. But if I open it in the browser, I get the error: Failed to submit to SharePoint. URL = 'http://sharpointsite.com/sites/dept/portal/_vti_bin/lists.asmx'.  The URL is valid- I can access it directly in the browser and also can use it to submit the form when it is opened in the client.  To clarify, as long as it is an IP2007 browser form, I don't need to make any changes to qRules now that it is in SharePoint 2010, right?

The form was uploaded as an Administrator installed form prior to migraiting the content databases... I'm going to try having the form re-installed.

    Hi, Pam:

The issue is most likely in the mapping file -- we found that in SharePoint 2010, if the list name parameter uses a namespace (whether via qRule mapping or another data source field), the submit will fail in the browser.

If you'd like, send your template to our support email alias (it is at the back of your qRules user guide) and I can check for this and manually clean up your mapping and template.

Thank you- I was able to get the form tested and into production last night- it is working perfect!  I really appreciate everyone at Qdabra- you guys are AWESOME!

    Hilary,

I have this same issue mentioned above.  "Failed to submit to SharePoint. URL = 'http://myxxxx.teams.xxxx.com/sites/Proc_CTT/BPAF/_vti_bin/lists.asmx".  I am trying to get my Qrules trial to work so I can make a case to purchase the software.  I opened the mapping template but am unsure of what to change as it was not specified in the above remedy.  Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Cris

I'm guessing you are using the new trial - this thread is a year old, and the issue outlined here was resolved soon after, so you are probably having some other difficulty. Does this fail in preview? Can you attach your form under the options tab so I can take a quick look?

I am using the new QRules 4.1 trial.  It is failing in preview.  I followed thesteps from your QRules 2.0 walkthrough..

You had a question that you asked in a private messsage that I'll go ahead and answer here - you asked about the command node being blank when you preview.

Here's the basic mechanics of qRules - you set the command node to a value, the code that is added to your form runs when the command node changes and tries to do what you've asked via the value, then the code sets the command node back to blank.

Your form appears to be set up correctly. Do you have permissions to write to the list you are trying to submit to?

I'm going to inject your template with a different version that will hopefully give us more error info - I'll post it back here sometime today - may be toward the end of the day.

Ok thanks Hilary....I do have permission to write to the list.  I am really hoping we can get this to work as this is the last hurdle for me.

Here's your form back - I've added to the error handling in the SubmitToSharePointList command. Save the file locally, and then right click on the saved file and select Design to open in design mode. From there you can preview - hopefully you'll find a lot more info in the error node this time - reply here with the error text....

    Hilary,

Unfortuately I only received the same error as before. "Failed to submit to SharePoint. URL = 'http://myxxxx.teams.xxxx.com/sites/Proc_CTT/BPAF/_vti_bin/lists.asmx".

    How odd.

I'll get another version up again later today, see if we can figure out a way to find out what's going wrong in your environment.

When you have a chance, can you try this one? Thanks!

    EDITED: removed incorrect form.
