InfoPath form on SharePoint emailing to Outlook creates formatting issue

    Ok,

I created a simple form in InfoPath using qRules tools (not the issue). In it I have a hidden section with a repeating table that only appears with an approval type of `Price Change'. That table has three cells: One text and two for currency.

The form, when submitting form InfoPath, has some formatting issues but when viewed with a browser looks fine.

When i publish this to SharePoint I can open up the form library and fill the form out. It appears here without an issue with the correct formatting.

The form submits data via email. Now is where the issue lies.

If you open the email in Outlook (2007/2010) the table with the Price Change information is stretched out across the screen, rendering the form pretty unprintable.

Now, strangely enough if you look at the email in webmail then the formatting seems correct.

Any idea why this would happen and what I can do to fix this issue?

I have attached my infopath template if you're interested.

    Hi Brian,

It's because of the inexact version of HTML (InfoPath) to MHTML (what's used in Outlook). The Web mail form is probably just using HTML. There were numerous HTML to MHTML conversion issues back in 2003 when I worked on it and not all of these were not fixed in 2007 or 2010. My suggestion would be to play with the tables. Maybe put the repeating table inside a section or another table and try to fool it into displaying something that looks good.

Glad to hear you are using qRules. Thanks!
