Italics in InfoPath 2010 is driving me mad!

I'm working on my first form using InfoPath 2010. Every time I insert a table using the buttons in the ribbon, all of the labels are italicized. If I select them and turn off italics, it just magically turns back on again.

Thinking I'd found a workaround, I started using custom tables. With these I can enforce exactly the formatting I want. However now I'm trying to use a repeating table. The italics has returned and cannot be dissuaded!

Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

    After more research I've found:

    1. Selecting the italicized text and then changing the font style from Label to Normal fixes the problem. However the preview for the Label font style doesn't show italics which doesn't help to suggest this.
    2. Changing the form to InfoPath 2007 compatibility mode removes the table options from the ribbon and also replaces the font styles. So it's not possible to reproduce this issue in that mode.

I was having the same problem...so thanks for the info on changing font styles.  Do you know if it's possible to change the default settings for styles, such as for the Column Label style?...and if so how is it done?  I haven't been able to locate a "styles" options window as in other Office apps for configuring styles.

    Thanks again for your help.

I'm having the same trouble. In InfoPath 2010, I have a text box that appears as italics after I've set it to plain text and it just goes back. I did have success clicking on the text box in designer and selecting the "Description" option from the Font Styles on the Home tab. I don't see where to set the style attributes. Since it's a web form, maybe it relies on SharePoint CSS? JK

I've had some luck with the format painter with stubborn formatting.
