Fixing a repeating table at a certain number of rows

The form I'm designing needs to have a table with 14 rows and 8 columns. The table will always be the same size.

I don't want to have a field for every single cell in this table (112!). Instead, I'd like to use a repeating table.

We can disable the ability to add or delete rows so that's fine. What about start with a certain number (e.g. 14) already showing blank on the form, ready to be populated?

You can use the Default Values dialog to give the table the number of rows you want.

Forgot to mention I'm using InfoPath 2010. After searching around, I eventually found this worked from the Form Options dialog under "Advanced" and also there is a Default Values button in the Data tab on the ribbon. Thanks for your help!

I have a repeating table, but when I click on the table and go to select "Default Values" it is greyed out...Why? Anyone know. I am in IP2010. I would like to have my table display 5 default rows first then the user can add more. I have 4 columns and each column has a text box in it with the last column having a dropdown and text box. Thank you.

EDIT: Now I see how to do this, but all the options are grayed out. Other people seem to be having this problem as well.

    Hi everybody,

I'm in IP2007, and the advice here appears to only apply to IP2010. Is there anyway to set this in design mode in IP2007 or do I have to change the .xsf file when I want to do this?

Thanks a lot for your help!

In IP2010, Default Values doesn't seem to work from the repeating table itself. Instead you have to click on the Data tab in the ribbon, then Default Values. Or you can go to the 'backstage' by clicking "File" in the ribbon and get to it via "Form Options", "Advanced".

In IP 2007, the default values dialog you need is in Tools->Form Options...->Advanced->Edit Default Values...

Note you can only do this for the main data source, not a secondary data source.

Default values from the Data Tab on the ribbon only affect the main form. It does not have options for the inserted repeating form.

This is driving me crazy. Is there a way to "un-gray" the choices on the "Repeating Table Properties"????

I want to select "Allow Users to add row..." and "Show Insert button".
