InfoPath Dev

 Creating some forms on InfoPath for SharePoint.

I have 2 SharePoint lists as described:

List 1, named Inventory, has 2 columns. 1 for inventory title, and the other for description.
List 2, named Personnel, has 2 columns. 1 for Department Name, and the other for Department Chair.

I've been able to create the form, but I'm having a little issue.

The idea is for the person filling out the form to select his Department. Once the Department is selected, I want the Department Chair box to automatically populate. I sort of got it to work, except for whatever Department I selected, it always populated the Department Chair that was first on the list.

I think I'm messing up someone on the rules.

Hi, you've probably forgot to set a filter on your rule. Try to set a filter based on the department value and your secondary data connection.

 I tried that, still doesn't work. I think I'm doing something wrong.

 I want the Supervisor to automatically populate based on their selection in the Department field. 

 Please let me know where I went wrong. I'm new to IntoPath.

Hi, I don't see any filter on your drop down...

Right click on your control, click on xpath on your data connection and set a filter on this window.

 Thanks for helping out with the rules, but I'm still really confused, and new to InfoPath. What parameters should I set when setting the filter? Set Department on the data source to Department on the form field?

Hi, you're right you have to set department on your data source is equal to department on your infopath field.

Edit: I just figure out where is your problem it's on your rule, you set a filter based on the supervisor and not on the department. Forgot the filter on the department control it's not what you need (Sorry for that)...
