SharePoint 2007 is trimming my InfopPath 2003 fields

    Hi

I have created an InfoPath 2003 format InfoPath form (due tothe fact that some users are using Office 2003) and published it to SharePoint 2007.  I have promoted some of the InfoPath fields to SharePoint, as I plan to report from there.

I am finding that the fields are being trimmed to 255 characters in SharePoint.  Is there anyway to avoid this?

If not, is there any other way to report across the fields cotained within a library?

     Many thanks

    Darryl

I have just read that this may be due to the fact that the InfoPath fields are not RichText fields.

If I change the fields to Rich Text, will this affect my existing data? Is there a danger that the existing forms in the library will not display the data that has already been submitted?

    Thanks
