Hi

I'm new to Infopath 2007 and have created a form to which I wish to send to people via email.  When publishing I click 'finish', but get the following error "unable to create blank from access denied contact system administrator" with the following detail

Access is denied.”

My system administrator cannot provide a solution, my question is after two days of looking at forums and finding no answer, can anyone help?

How exactly did you publish it?  What were the exact publishing steps and options chosen while publishing?

You're actually getting that error AFTER it publishes?  I am not aware of a Finish button.  The last button before publishing is "Publish," and then after publishing, it has a "Close" button.  The only "Finish" button I know if is when publishing a SharePoint Designer workflow - the finalization button says "Finish."

Restricted-mode email forms are a great solution but they are not web-enabled forms (users must have InfoPath). In addition, they are very limited due to the restricted security mode. They must be sent in email as an XSN (just attach the form template). Make sure you are using the InfoPath Filler settings to create it. You don't have to publish the form. Just send it as an XSN in email. See Mel Balsamo's blog on this site from April 2009 with an example of an email based survey form.

You are correct that the button is 'Publish' not Finish.

In the design view of the form I'm trying to publish through the design task menu on the right-hand side using the sixth item 'Publish Form Template' on clicking publish after a short delay I get the error message.  The design form is set to restricted security.

The thing I have noticed after some investigation this weekend is that in form view, when filling, out a form I can send via Email 'File menu - send to mail recipiant' with no errors, using restricted security.  also I have set submit button to via email and in form view this also works. It also attaches the xsn file.

I have also aske the system administrator to enable our system so I can use domain security to see if this gets rid of the error when publishing from a design view, but he has no idea how to do this.  Therefore looks like I will never be able to connect to an SQL database.

For domain security, users just need to be in the domain. If they navigate to the website, it will show Local Intranet in the status bar (for Internet Explorer) - that means it will work with domain security. It's easy to have users change this on their own by going to IE tools->settings->security and adding the site to your local intranet site. The system admin should also be able to add it to the domain so that it's by default local intranet when users in the domain navigate there.

Thanks for your help, I think I no where the problem now is.  The IT departtment don't have any intention on installing infopath services, probably too much work for them.  So I think I'm stuck with restricted security and outlook along with, as suggested, Infopath on each machine.

PS: Or can I still connect to an SQL database with just using infopath, I will also need all other form user to access this database when using the form?

Too much work for them?  InfoPath Forms Services is not something you install.  You either have it or you don't.  If you have MOSS 2007 Enterprise or SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise, then you have Forms Services.  There is no installing it, so it would not be related to IT being lazy. Why did you assume that, and why do you think you're stuck not using browser forms?

Yes, you can connect directly to a SQL DB with InfoPath alone.  You can either create the form based on the database schema, which sets up the form schema and receive/submit data connections for you.  Or, you can create a blank template where you build your own schema and then create receive/submit data connections for the DB manually.  This will require more work but provides more flexibility (that you may not need).

Not sure how correct it is, but read that if I need to view forms in a browser you need Infopath services.  I'm afraid that from a company point were not looking at sharepoint and have no plans for the future.  I think that's the wrong decision but I have no influence here.

Ideal solution for me would be to use a browser for froms? But looking at outlook as a fall back.

Yes, like I said, you need the Enterprise version of SharePoint (either 2007 or 2010) in order to utilize browser forms.  I didn't know you didn't have SharePoint at all.  I never encounter people using InfoPath without SharePoint, so it's my bias that led to this assumption that you were already using SharePoint.

So yeah, you have no option of browser forms, but it's not due to it being too much work for your IT team, lol.  It's a major enterprise product that costs a lot of money and would only be deployed as part of collaboration strategy for the company.
