Duplicate column issue while publishing infopath form as Administrator approved template?

    Hi All,

I am publishing some infopath forms which are having few common fields. The form is published as Administrator approved template. During developement these form templates are continuously modified and republished. In this process it is creating some duplicate columns for the library which are not getting deleted even after the content type is removed from the library. Also I am not able to delete these columns manually from the library. Because of this workflows are not working properly as they depend on these column values. Am I missing something because of which the duplicate columns are getting attached to the form library.

    Thanks,

    Rahul Babar

Did you come up with a solution for this issue?  I'm have the same thing going on- I was able to fix my workflows but I'd really like to clean up the list columns

Are these columns coming from the Form data.  If so, the only way to delete the column is to remove it when publishing the form.

What I have observed is if you are little careful while promoting, repromoting, demoting or renaming the columns, this issue doesn't come. What you need to do is while promoting any column you have to select to create a new column in the library. After publishing if for some reason you are repromoting the form, by default infopath selects to use existing site column of type Microsoft infopath form. There you have to again select to create a new column in the library. If you are demoting any column, the column from the library can not be deleted and it will continue with null value for later list items. I am not sure if this approach will work for all situations but it worked for me. Again if you have to get rid of duplicate columns, you may have to delete the list and recreate it.

    Thanks,
