    Upon Form Open Function?

Is there a way to open a input box that asks for the name of the person editing the form, and saves the data of whatever is inputed into a hidden field, when the form is opened and before the user can actually fill out the actual form.

Or is there a simpler way to get the user who is editing the form without using userName() since that function doesn't exist in 2003 infopath and we have conflicting versions across the network, so I can't use that function.

    Hi PhoenixICE,

You can get a copy of Qdabra's Active Directory Web Service that auto-populates your form with the correct user name. Check out: http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/ADWebService.aspx

You can also create an InfoPath view that you use on open to capture the name and then switch to another view that doesn't show it. Problem with this is that the user's name is not validated.

    Good luck!
