Cannot start VS Tools for Applications

I have IP 2010 installed and when I try to click on any of the developer buttons, I get an error stating that it cannot start visual studio tools for applications (VSTA). I had IP 2007 installed and know that both cannot be installed at the same time with the issue that you cannot install .net support under infopath 2010 if 2007 is installed. So I uninstalled IP 2007 and installed IP 2010. I now have all the Office 2010 products installed only. However, I still get this error. I already tried to repair Office with no luck. I have Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate installed.

Also, I can start VSTA manually by starting C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\vsta.exe with no problem. It seems there is a linking or security issue maybe. I cannot find anything on the web to help me.

    Please help,

    thanks

Re: Cannot start VS Tools for Applications

     Hi,

I basically have the same issue on Windows 7 with Infopath 2010.

It cannot open VSTA for some odd reason whereas I can do it manually from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\vsta.exe.

    Any idea?

    Thanks

    Briac

    Typo: I run VSTA from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE ...

I'd try repairing my InfoPath install - have you tried that? And, of course, making sure .NET programability support is enabled. This link has some instructions on that.

Thanks a lot Hilary! I've made a full reinstall of my Office suite and now it works.
