    help xdocument.getDom failed

Hello, a newbie here already breaking my first form!  I tried creating an AD name lookup to one of my fields and ended up not using it anymore so I deleted my GetUserProfileByName data source.  I deleted that data source and the related field that was referencing it.  But I can no longer open up my form and the message I get is "InfoPath cannot create a new, blank form" and the details say "A call to Xdocument.GeDOM failed.  The DataObject "GetUserProfileByName" does not exist.  Is there a way I can remove this?

    Hi Jaekou and welcome,

This error suggests that you have code in your form that was relying on this secondary data source. Please verify that you haven't added code. If you have, try removing it. If you didn't write code, I'd say export the source files and take a look at the manifest.xsf for references to the deleted data adapter.

    Best of luck,

    Hey Patrick,

Thanks for responding and I was able to find and delete the added code!

Since my attempt at adding an AD lookup failed I was wondering if you could direct to a resource/article that could help me accomplish this w/out the use of coding?  My form will be uploaded to sharepoint and within sharepoint we have the functionality to validate active directory.

    Thanks!

    Yo Jaekou,

Are you in Korea? If not, I'm sorry. I jsut have fond memories of viisting Seoul when I was 19 years old ...

InfoPath 2007 and 2010 includes a Peoploe Picker control that will list users in your company's global address list.

If that doesn't work, you can query Active Directory using SharePoint's GetUserProfile or Qdabra's Active Directory web service. Neither require coding. If you don't have SharePoint you can install Qdabra's free trial of DBXL to query ADWS. It's not a free product, but you can test the trial and if you think it will work, we can provide discounts if you are willing to write up a 2-3 sentence testimonial. We have lots of customers of it.

Clay Cobb (Google his "SharePoint Madness" site) has a good blog on how to use SharePoint's GetUserProfile.

    Yours truly,

Hey Patrick, no I'm not from Korea and nothing to be sorry about I'm glad you had some good memories there though.  I was able to add the contact selector control without the need for coding too!  Thanks for the heads up on SharePoint Madness and appreciate you taking the time to reply to my posts.
