    Access created forms

Can a form created automaticaly by Access be saved and modified? The data aspects are perfect, but management wants cosmetic changes. I am brand new to INFOPATH (less than two hours!) but I am a strong Excel user, with reasonable Access skills.

I have tried to save them, but they seem to be on a temporary drive on my network and once Access is closed they disapear?

Also, can anyone recomend a beginers books about form design that covers NON Sharepoint stuff?

    Hi William,

So, you created an InfoPath form from Access - is that correct?  Did the process create a view for you or did you have to put your view together from scratch? I'm guessing the former.

You should be able to modify the XSN that was created as part of the Access import process, but the view will be difficult to modify since Access does 2d rendering and InfoPath is HTML based. This is similar to importing forms from Word or Excel - you end up with views that don't modify well because the inferred HTML is not a good fit to your data and the data source is flat. You're always better off creating the InfoPath form from scratch and specifying a data source that is XML-based. Creating InfoPath views does't take that much time either so I think my general advice is not to use the importers since they don't have good fidelity and make it difficult to modify the resulting form templates..

Regarding resources, check out the link to the right in this forum that says Resources. Hagen Green's book on InfoPath is a great starter reference.

    Happy trails,
