I've created an infopath form which queries an Access database to populate drop down menus (dependent on selected criteria). It is a retrieve only connection - the form never updates the database.
The problem is that the form needs to be used by staff all over Europe and the data connections in some places are pretty bad. The typical database connection in some regions is up to a minute.
However it occurs to me that the information in the database is fairly static; it's only likely to change once a month and then not by much. I know that it's possible to save a copy of the data within the form for offline use - but it is possibel to modify the connections so that they don't requery every time it is opened? Then I could simply refresh the data within the form ever time it's needed.
The e-mail/sharepoint submit connections would need to remain active though.
