    Odd Form behaviour

Hi there, Something very puzzling is going on with one of my Infopath forms (and its only happening on the computer it has been designed with). Sometimes when I try to open this form I get the error message "some rules were not applied..." and the details indicate that the form (with its full path) cannot be opened and I should contact the administrator. If I click OK and try it again it opens. This happens randomly and only on the computer (using Infopath 2007) I have designed the form on. As far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with the network. Can someone please help - I really don't want to re-design this form. Thank you!

Any chance there is an offline/online issue? Are these laptops?

    Hi Johan,

I think u might have put some rule on submit button, and those rules are not getting fired correctly. Can you tell me , if you are putting both code and rules on submit button click ?

Hi There, I've put only one rule on the button which is "Open a new form to fill out" with the accompanied path to that form. The error occurs randomly (I might get the error 4 times in a row and then for the next 20 times not). The error only occurs on the PC (MS 2007 with Windows 7) it was developed on. I'm staring to wonder if this might be a cache problem and I don't know how to clear it in W7... Regards Johan

OK, and do u have any code as well ? but if it is occurring randomly, it might be a cache issue.

    Good day,

The form was designed on a Windows 7 PC with Infopath 2007.

    More Back ground:

During the design an attempt was made to add code which was to disable the menu and toolbars. The code gave me more trouble than not and I took it out. After I took the code out some errors were encountered on all PC's using the form. I then went to Tools - Options - Programming and pressed the "Remove Code" button and no more errors were encountered except for the PC on which the form was originated. It is always the same error "Form cannot be opened"  and after a random number of attempts the form does open.

    OS

Form working on XP but not always on Windows 7

    Sharepoint, WSS 3.0, MOSS

    We are not using Sharepoint

    Regards

    Johan

Ok, I have a look on the form, I remove all the data connection (because I don't have your DB), and I get the error you talking about. After that I check the "design checker", and I found an error on a calculated field (NumericalList) probably because it uses the data connection. After removing that, your form open correctly I use seven. I suggest you to check "design checker" and verify if everithing is correct.

    Hi There Potemkine,

Thank you for your time and effort, it is very much appreciated! The design checker at my side indicates no problems so I think you are right in the sense that the error you encountered on your side was probably data connection related. I'm sorry if I've have wasted your time

The question still remains though, why is the form behaving differently on different computers. I'm seriously starting to suspect my Windows 7 PC or a combination of Windows 7 and the network for a number of reasons.

    a) It is the only PC on which I get an error

    b) I have other perfectly normal forms which also have a problem opening on the Windows 7 PC.

    c) An error only occurs when opening forms (All my forms are stored on a server and I use links / URLs which point to those forms)

    d) If it is a design error I will most probably experience a constant problem and not a random problem - I don't know if this makes sense!

    Thank you again

    Johan
