    XDocument.Submit

Upon executing XDocument.Submit, almost most of the time the code will return either the following error msg:

    1) Error: InfoPath cannot submit the form. An error occurred while the form was being submitted. ?? The form cannot be submitted to the following location: <site location> You do not have permission to create a file in this location. ..

    2) Error: InfoPath cannot submit the form. An error occurred while the form was being submitted. ?? The form cannot be submitted to the following location: <site location> The site may be offline, read-only, or otherwise unavailable. Catastrophic failure ..

    3) Error: InfoPath cannot submit the form. An error occurred while the form was being submitted. ?? The form cannot be submitted to the following location: <site location> The file is in use by another application or user. ..
--> I know this occur when the site location differs from the form template location.

Could anyone help me decipher what the error msg mean and how to counter-attack them?

    thanks!

    Hi Potpourri,
Decipher? Seems like the error messages are somewhat explanatory. Have you investigated the cause they suggest?

    Hi there Patrick,

I may know the cause for the 3rd error.
But really have no clue for the 1st and the 2nd and to make matter worse, they happen intermittently.
That's why I'm desperate finding out if anyone else having the same problem with me :(

    We have the same problem.

    ------

    InfoPath cannot submit the form.

An error occurred while the form was being submitted.

The form cannot be submitted to the following location: http://domain/forms/Invoice/AR Invoice - 2013-02-27T14_56_56.xml

The site may be offline, read-only, or otherwise unavailable.

    Catastrophic failure

Have you verified that the location in the error is exactly the same library that you are trying to submit to? Can you try creating a new library for testing, and modifying a test version of your form to submit to it to try to narrow down whether the issue is the library, the site collection or the form?

We have been having the same issue for quite a while and have narrowed it down to a multitude of issues.

    • If you have an attachment (this one has been odd for us, it's pdfs over 200kb)
    • If your sharepoint server is setup with load balancing
    • If your profile (also can be called you outlook profile) has any errors in it or has gotten corrupted
    • If your computer that you use infopath on has any problems related to web storage (this is a windows problem and there are kbs from Microsoft to fix them)
    • If your document library has grown to a certain size, it could not be indexing correctly (which we have had happen)
    • If the sharepoint server connection is through a WAN device for vpn, you can have this problem

We have noticed that when we restart our sharpoint server the problem goes away, most of our problems went away when we took off load balancing for the sharepoint server (this took months to figure out)

I would recommend getting fiddler2 or comparable program and see whats happening when you try to save.  It won't make sense at first, but once you learn how to read the output, you will start to figure out the problem.

Wow... lot of variables.   We have narrowed it down to the form or the server connection.   the issue happens to users in a certain area of a remote building.

workaround is for them to do a Save As and make sure to give it a unique name.

    Thanks for all the ideas.
