This will depend to a certain extent on the version of InfoPath you are using, and will require either code or qRules. If you use qRules, you could use the GetInputParameter command in your target form and not have to write any code yourself -- you'd provide the user with a link to click, and you could use a concat formula to include a form value as an input parameter in the link. You could also write code in your target form yourself to get the input parameter value. Another option is NewFromFormTemplate.

I am setting the GetInputParameter command on the receiving form. I am getting missing xml errors. When using the command does it have to be referred from another infopath form or will any referring hyperlink with parameters properly appended to the end of the link work?

I went through the document in the library and it didn’t really say that there are any environmental requirements except for injecting qrules in the form and then adding the GetInputParameter using the finished loading trigger to get it to calculate?

    Thanks in advance

The command should work any time the parameters are passed in using the hyperlink.  Could you clarify what you mean by "missing xml errors"?  What errors are those specifically?

Would you also mind using a slightly smaller font size? :-)

Exrtemly good now on being able to open form anny hyperlink!!!!

When it is being opened I get: "internet address  http.........../forms/QdabraRules.xml is not valid."  I respond ok and the form opens and  populates with data from the database connections no problem.

PS   sorry for the big font it  didn't look that  big till i posted it.  Guess the eyes are starting to feel the years.

Ok, it sounds like there's a problem with the way qRules is set up in your form and this is not a GetInputParameter-specific issue.  Could you clarify how you added qRules to your form?  Did you just use the injector, or did you go about it some other way?

I have actually seen this before but only vaguely remember the cause - where the QdabraRules data connection is pointed to a SharePoint site rather than using the resource file in the form.

You can walk through the data connection wizard again for that file and redirect it to the QdabraRules.xml file in the resource files in your form. Or, if you'd like, attach the file to the Options tab here and I'll fix it up for you.
