Infopath form view based on roles

hi, me again. I've been asking some question without getting help.

hope this one someone can help me with it

i have created a form with 3 views. what i'm trying to do is seperate the form in 3, for the user, approver and submitter to database. first the user open the form to fill it in. then the approver get the form so he can open the form to approve it, and at last the "submitter to database" get the form to open it and then submit the records to the database. for each view i created a role. when the user open the form it opens the form with the view for the user, and when the approver open the form it opens the form with the view for the approver. but when the "submitter to the database" open the form it opens with the view of the approver.

how can i fix this so when the form is open by the "submitter to database" it opens with the view for the "submitter to database"?

also what i notice is, when the user open the form by clicking new in sharepoint the form opens with the view of the user. but if the user open an existing form in sharepoint it opens with the submitter view.

how can i also fix this. isn't their a way that the user can reopen a submitted form viewing the same "user" view?

Hi, I suppose you use infopath roles on your form and you switch view on load.

your user member of "submitter to database" is also member of the same group than the approver one?

You can check which roles your curent user have on the bottom right of your infopath form.

    hi Potemkine,

yes i have add some roles and create the rules in form option.

i have created a new user with a new "submitter to database" group. so this user only appear in the new "submitter" group.

when i open the form using this new user i still see on the bottom right the approver role.

i have set the user role to initiater and default. still dont see no change

dont know what i'm doing wrong

Hi,  you known that rules use your windows credential, so if you change your userlogin in Sharepoint, Infopath will keep your Windows login credential.

    hi,

yes i know that, thats why i'm using remote desktop.

i see what the problem is. it is on setting the role as default.

if i set the approver to default and let the approver open the form it opens with the view of the approver.

and if i change the default to the submitter. so i set the submitter to default the when the submitter opens the form it opens with the submitter view

if i set the user role to default and initiator it only opens the form with the user view it seems like i can only use 2 views for 1 form

Hum, if it always connect with the default one, it mean that your current user is not member of the group or user configured in the roles.

     I have some questions..

You use role with user name or group or user name from the form?

    You working with AD right?

When I have trouble with roles, I use ismember.exe and I check if I can see the group configured with rmy roles with this utility.

Hi, no problem for developping on a local machine. If you use it on an AD it's ok. When you configure you're roles, use the syntax DOMAIN\groupname
