Adding a Column from a Form Into a View - Not Populating

SharePoint newbie here.  I have been able to successfully publish forms in InfoPath and add fields in the Publish wizard so that the fields appear in the view column in SharePoint.  However, if I add a field from the form during the Publish wizard process, only new documents created or existing documents which are re-saved will have a value in the view column in SharePoint.

For example, I recently added a field, "Build Status", to the Publish wizard.  All new documents created show the value of the field Build Status in the view in SharePoint.  All existing documents, which have the field, do not show a value in SharePoint unless I open them, and re-save them.  Is there a way I can show the value of the field for all documents in the document library, not just new ones?

    Thanks

Hi, I don't think it's possible, because when your old infopath xml is create, your new field isn't exist, that's why you can't see this information. When you open your old file, InfoPath is creating this new field on your xml file, that's why you can see this information if you resave them. I think you have to open - save all your document to display this information.

The field does exist in all the documents and is populated with data in the existing documents, I just didn't display the field in the Form Library view in SharePoint until now.  If I open any existing document, even without making changes, the field in the view is now populated when the document is closed.

Ok, have you try to relink your document, on the settings of your document library?

Relink option was moved to Relink View and then Relink All in 2010 (great that they added the Relink All) . You can use check-in/check-out in 2010 to refresh promoted properties.

In addition, there are tools, like DBXL's Doc Deployer that you can use to batch resave. DBXL trial is free and Doc Deployer can be used to batch re-upload forms to SharePoint. This is a good free solution for a one time remap of 50+ forms. If it's less than 50, I'd use check-in/check-out or relink (if you have 2007).

Yes I have and that did not work unfortunately.

I thought relink worked but I probably got it wrong. You'd think I would remember that given that I wrote the feature when at Microsoft back in 2002. OK, relink just changes the href. Got it. Well, try re-uploading using the Web Explorer view. That ought to work.

That's true I forgot that concerning the relink. A copy paste on explorer view should do the trick

I copied and re-pasted all the documents in Explorer view.  That worked.

    Thanks guys!
