Re: Carriage Return In Text Box

I just thought I would share how I got this working in a very few simple steps. I needed a breakline between field1 and field2.

    1. I created another text field and called it LineBreak.

    2. In the default value box I inserted this Formula:

    string("

    ")

Remember to have a space between the " " (quotes). Hit Ctrl+Enter on your keyboard to create a new line. The ") should appear on a new line as shown above.

    3. Then all you have to do is use the LineBreak field in the formula of the textbox that you need the line breaks. e.g. concat(Field1, LineBreak, Field2)

    Hope this helps.

Re: Carriage Return In Text Box

I find dozens of posts on different forums and blogs about carriage returns but they all refer back to this discussion.

But this does not work in browser.  Is there any solution that does?

I am using InfoPath 2010 published to browser enabled form in SharePoint 2013 in the cloud.  Submission is as a read only view to an email but the result is the same in the form and the email.

    CODE SOLUTIONS ARE NOT POSSIBLE!

I'll say it again  CODE SOLUTIONS ARE NOT POSSIBLE!

This isn't personal preference or anything - IT JUST IS NOT POSSIBLE TO PUBLISH A FORM WITH CODE TO SHAREPOINT IN THE CLOUD!

I have seen many different versions of the syntax to go in the XML but whatever I enter in the XML it just comes back as plain text in the text box or doesn't show at all.  I never get a line feed or carriage return.

I have tried the alternative methods in this discussion such as creating a field with default value string(" ...  carriage return ...") and again I have tried various different syntax I have seen described but the solution is still the same.

Is it possible to insert a carriage return in a piece of text in a browser enabled form without code?
